Thomas (Tommy) Sarenara's journey in the crane industry began in 1998 and is marked by decades of hard-earned experience and a passion for change. Raised by a father who worked as a contractor, Tommy was introduced to the construction world early on. By 2001, he was operating tower cranes on high-rise projects in San Diego and Los Angeles.
For over two decades, Tommy worked across the country - from North Dakota to North Carolina, Arizona and beyond - gaining a deep understanding of the challenges faced by crane operators. He saw firsthand the isolation of 16-hour shifts, the lack of recognition and how operators were often overworked and under appreciated. His time in the cab wasn't just spent managing lifts - it was spent reflecting on how the the industry could be better.
In 2017, Tommy transitioned into management, bringing his operational experience to a concrete company where he oversaw both the concrete division and the crane division. This opportunity further solidified his vision: to create a company that placed operator care, safety and client satisfaction at the forefront.
In 2023, Tommy joined forces with his brother David Flores, a seasoned professional in the industry, to co-found Heritage Crane Group. Together, they built the company not only to transform how operators are treated, but also to address a critical challenge facing the crane industry: the growing demand for cranes alongside a shortage of skilled operators and technicians.
Today, Heritage Crane Group is dedicated to bridging the gap between operators and technicians, and the companies they serve.
